Why Make DIY eye cream?
- Minimize dark eye circles under the eyes.
Lack of sleep isn't the only thing linked to dark spots under your eyes. Allergies, skin pigmentation, smoking, or genetics can also cause them. This DIY eye cream contains rosehip seed oil rich in Vitamin C, a natural antioxidant that helps minimize unwanted dark circles by strengthening the skin. In addition, vitamin C helps build collagen, making the skin more resilient and maintaining a robust circulatory system.
For those looking for affordable options, some of the best drugstore vitamin C serums on the market can help promote healthy, radiant skin.
- Reduce puffiness.
If you suffer from eye bags under your eyes, this homemade eye cream can help with puffiness in the eye region and smooth your dry skin and wrinkles. In addition, this face cream rehydrates, soothes, and rejuvenates the delicate skin around your eyes.
- Help reduce wrinkles and fine lines.
The skin underneath our eyes is the thinnest skin layer on our body; therefore, often among the first places showing signs of aging on our face. Regular application of this antiaging cream will reduce the appearance of wrinkles around the eyes and encourages the healthy growth of new skin cells.

Where do fine lines and wrinkles come from?
They mainly come from direct sun exposure, so always use sunscreen. Decreased collagen production is the second most common reason. Collagen is responsible for the elasticity of the skin. While It doesn't sound very optimistic, we can boost its production with Vitamin C, retinol (provitamin A), or peptides.
This simple eye cream recipe contains all-natural ingredients rich in vitamins C, E, and A. It also contains moisturizers such as coconut oil that hydrate and rejuvenate the skin. In addition, this DIY undereye cream is free of chemicals such as preservatives and fragrances.

What Are The Best Ingredients To Use For Homemade Eye Cream?
What are the secret ingredients? You would be surprised that they are not secret; they're quite ordinary, but their correct combination makes all the difference.
Vitamin E oil
Fat-soluble Vitamin E is often used in beauty products, especially those with antiaging properties to treat fine lines and wrinkles. Excellent moisturizer and antioxidant Vitamin E can also reduce pigmentation and heal scars.
High in vitamins C, A and antioxidants, rosehip seed oil can deeply penetrate the skin and repair pigmentation, photo-aging, or skin tone.(Vitamin A)
A combination of Vitamin E with Rosehip oil makes a double effect in the anti-aging process. While Vitamin E can fight wrinkles and tighten the skin, rosehip seed oil regenerates skin cells, restores the skin's elasticity, and naturally minimizes fine lines and wrinkles. You can also use almond oil instead.
We have used homemade rosehip seed oil to make this moisturizing soap.
With antioxidants and fatty acids, virgin coconut oil can deeply nourish, hydrate, and repair the skin. Coconut oil and shea butter appear in most DIY skin care. With its antibacterial properties, coconut oil can fight skin infections such as acne, dermatitis, or cellulitis and provides moisture to the skin.
Coconut oil also hydrates and moisturizes dry skin keeping the skin soft and younger-looking. We used the same combination of coconut oil and rosehip oil in this excellent moisturizing homemade lip balm.
Adding essential oil is optional in this DIY eye cream recipe; I haven't used any. However, if you wish to add a few drops for fragrance and additional anti-aging properties, use rose essential oil, lavender, or pure chamomile essential oil. Alternatively, use frankincense essential oil. When you apply the cream, make sure the cream will not get into the eye, just around your eyes.
Aloe vera gel
some recipes call for aloe vera gel. I haven't used it in this recipe; however, aloe vera gel soothes, cools, and fight inflammation and contains vitamins A, C, and E. Feel free to add fresh aloe vera gel or store-bought for longer shelf life.
Other ways than cream to ease puffy eyes:
A) apply a cold compress.
B) apply cucumber slices or cold tea bags over your closed eyes.
C) splash cold water over your face.
D) get enough sleep.
E) reduce salt in your diet.
F) Eat food rich in potassium to eliminate excess food in your body.

How to make a homemade DIY Eye cream.
First step - melt the ingredients.
Place coconut oil, beeswax, and rosehip oil in a glass bowl, then place that bowl in a saucepan filled with water. Or use a double boiler. Gently warm the ingredients. Keep the temperature low so you don't destroy any beneficial properties of rosehip oil. Once the beeswax melts, remove it from the heat and mix it well.
Second step - add vitamin E capsule in a bowl.
Cut the capsules in half using a sharp knife and gently squeeze the contents into the mixture. Alternatively, you can pierce them with a needle and squeeze the contents into a teaspoon. Mix it well.
Third step - transfer into a sterilized jar
Transfer the wrinkle cream to a sterilized jar and store it in the refrigerator.
How to use under-eye cream?
Gently apply around the whole eye area and lip area every evening and let it absorb into the skin. The best practice is to use it after you wash your face and apply a face moisturizer.
It can be used as an eye makeup remover too!!!
Why are eye creams and eye serums expensive?
Eye creams tend to be thicker as they contain more oil than regular creams or lotions.
Delicate under-eye skin is thin, so wrinkles appear sooner than in other body areas. The constant movement of the eyes doesn't help either. Eye creams are highly concentrated and need to be applied pea-sized to cover the skin under both eyes.
So you use lower doses of cream with a higher concentration of active ingredients.
Can this natural homemade eye cream with rosehips be used as a lip moisturizer?
The area around your lips is also fragile and delicate. It is exposed to many movements and needs extra care. It is a good idea to apply a tiny amount of this cream around your lips to hydrate them and boost this area with higher collagen production.
Can I use this DIY eye cream on my eyelids?
This homemade eye cream is fragrance-free, so it will not irritate your eyes. You can apply it near your eyes, but it should not go on your top eyelid or eyelashes as it can get into your eyes.
Does eye cream work?
Eye cream is akin to hot fudge compared to chocolate syrup - more luxurious, usually thicker in consistency, and worth the splurge.
Dermatologists agree that eye creams address specific needs for this thinner-skinned, more-delicate area, so they're often thicker, more emollient, and contain targeted ingredients.
Skin care experts agree that delicate eye creams are uniquely formulated for this skin around the eye due to their thinner texture. Thus, they tend to be richer and more nourishing, with active ingredients tailored to the area.

This sounds so nourishing for the tender under eye area! I love rose hip oil too. I also love the fact that by making your own eye cream you can control all of the ingredients. It looks easy. I will definitely try making it. Thanks!

I had no idea that rose hips were good for this! I love them and grow/forage them for other things, but I'll be happy to infuse some oil for moisturizer. The holidays are so fun but a little extra busy and I could use some help on my face!

I’m always so skeptical of commercials promoting creams like this, but I feel safer seeing ingredients that I know and have used before here in your recipe! Thanks for sharing this ❤️
Thank you for sharing this recipe. Since there's no preservatives in the ingredient list, how long will this eye cream last in the refrigerator?
Vladka Merva says
I always make a small batch and use it within 3 months. Keep it in the fridge.
