Where do fine lines and wrinkles come from?
They mainly come from direct sun exposure so make sure you always use sunscreen. The second reason is the decreased production of collagen that is responsible for the elasticity of the skin. It doesn’t sound very optimistic but we can boost its production with Vitamin C, retinol (provitamin A) or peptides.
This simple eye cream formula contains all-natural ingredients that are rich in vitamin C, E and A. It also contains moisturizers such as coconut oil that will hydrate and brighten your skin. This DIY undereye cream is free of any chemicals such as preservatives and fragrances.

“A good eye cream is really important when you are traveling, busy and stressed-that’s when the dark puffy circles get you.”
Kate Winslet
Ingredients to make homemade eye cream
What are the secret ingredients? You would be surprised that they are not secret, in fact they're quite ordinary, but their correct combination makes all the difference:
Fat-soluble Vitamin E is often used in beauty products especially those with antiaging properties to treat fine lines and wrinkles. Great moisturizer and antioxidant Vitamin E can also reduce any pigmentation and heal scars.
Packed with vitamin C and A and antioxidants, rosehip seed oil has the ability to deeply penetrate the skin and repair pigmentation, photo-ageing or skin tone (Vitamin A)

A combination of Vitamin E with Rosehip seed oil makes a double effect in the antiaging process. While Vitamin E has the ability to fight wrinkles and firms the skin, Rosehip seed oil regenerates skin cells as well as restores the elasticity of the skin and naturally minimizes fine lines and wrinkles.
We have used homemade rosehip seed oil to make this moisturizing rosehip soap.
Coconut oil is packed with antioxidants and fatty acids that deeply nourish, hydrate and repair your skin. Thanks to its antibacterial properties, coconut oil can fight skin infections such as acne, dermatitis or cellulitis.
Coconut oil also hydrates and moisturizes the skin keeping the skin soft and younger-looking. We used the same combination of coconut oil and rosehip seed oil in this excellent moisturizing homemade lip balm.

Why use eye cream?
- Reduce dark eye circles under eyes. Lack of sleep isn't the only thing linked to dark circles under your eyes. They can also be caused by allergies, skin pigmentation, smoking or genetics. This DIY rosehip eye cream contains rosehip seed oil rich in Vitamin C, a natural antioxidant that helps minimize the unwanted dark circles by strengthening the skin. Vitamin C helps build collagen that makes the skin more resilient and maintains a strong circulatory system.
- Eye cream can also help with puffiness. If you suffer from eye bags under your eyes, this homemade eye cream can help to de-puff your eyes as well as smooth your skin around this area. This eye cream rehydrates and rejuvenates the delicate skin around your eyes

Apart from the cream here are some other ways to treat puffy eyes:
A) apply a cold compress
B) apply cucumber slices or cold tea bags over your closed eyes
C) splash cold water over your face
D) get enough sleep
E) reduce salt in your diet
F) Eat food rich in potassium to eliminate excess food in your body.
3. The skin underneath our eyes is the thinnest skin layer on our body therefore often amongst the first places showing signs of ageing on our face. Regular application of eye cream will reduce the appearance of wrinkles and make your skin look youthful.
If you are worried about fine lines and wrinkles try this antiaging elderflower salve to reduce signs of ageing.
Instructions on how to make the best eye cream
Put coconut oil, beeswax and rosehip oil into a double boiler. Gently warm the ingredients. Keep the temperature so you don't destroy any beneficial properties of the coconut oil.

Once the beeswax is melted, remove it from the heat and mix it well

Add 2 capsules of vitamin E. By using a sharp knife cut the capsules in half and gently squeeze the contents in the mixture. Alternatively, you can pierce them with a needle and squeeze the contents in. Mix it well.

Pour the mixture into a sterile jar
Store it in the jar in a cold place
Gently apply every evening around your eye and/or lip area and let it soak into your skin
It can be used as an eye makeup remover too!!!
why are eye creams expensive?
Eye creams tend to be thicker as they contain more oil than regular creams or lotions.
The skin around the eyes is delicate and thin so wrinkles appear sooner than on other areas of the body. The constant movement of eyes doesn’t help either. Eye creams are highly concentrated and need to be applied in a pea-sized amount just to cover the skin under both eyes. So you basically use lower doses of cream in a higher concentration of active ingredients.

Can this DIY eye cream with rosehips be used on lips?
The area around your lips is also very thin and delicate. It is exposed to many movements and needs extra care. It is actually a good idea to apply a tiny amount of this cream around your lips to hydrate them and boost this area with higher production of collagen.

Can I use this DIY eye cream on my eyelids?
This homemade eye cream is fragrance-free so it will not irritate your eyes. You can apply it near your eyes but it should not go on your top eyelid or eyelashes as it can get into your eyes.

This sounds so nourishing for the tender under eye area! I love rose hip oil too. I also love the fact that by making your own eye cream you can control all of the ingredients. It looks easy. I will definitely try making it. Thanks!
