This DIY deep conditioner for natural hair leaves your hair smooth and lustrous while protecting them against breakage.
Enriched with aloe vera this homemade deep conditioner for natural hair strengthens the hair strands leaving them moisturized.

Many people mistakenly believe that a conditioner only makes the hair easier to comb through. So if your hair is not long or curly, there is no point in using it.
DIY deep conditioner for natural hair however is a moisturizing agent that refortifies the hair cuticle with a protective coating allowing the hair to grow healthy without breaking. (1) Conditioner also makes the hair smooth, increases shine, reduces frizz, and makes it nicer to touch.
So whether you dye your hair, straighten, or blow-dry, your hair is damaged and deserves more attention, which includes both shampoo or shampoo bar and conditioner.
Hair conditioner recipe with emulsifying wax
conditioning natural hair effectively requires a conditioning agent. A conditioning agent also called surfactant is an emulsifying wax that is cationic, charged positively. Whereas hair and skin are charged negatively so the cationic agent can bond nicely with the hair.
They are emulsifying waxes that remain on the hair even during rinse off thanks to electrostatic interactions. This emulsifying wax in our case emulsifying wax NF helps to control static and leaves your hair smooth and lustrous while conditioner without this conditioning agent leaves them softer.
…naturally
If you’ve been following me for some time you know I like to make natural remedies and skin care products for my whole family.
In fact, I am getting orders from them. My niece’s birthday is coming soon and her mom (my sister) goes: could you make this wonderful body butter for Niki, she just loved it when she came to my place. My other niece has a little baby boy who just loves to use natural diaper rash cream. And it keeps going, so I started to maintain a waiting list with the dates of birth of my family members. When I started the natural journey I used purely natural ingredients from my pantry and a little Indian shop at the corner of my street. I kept all the products in the fridge and used them within a few weeks. Moving forward with my family’s requirements, gifts, and more natural products I realized I have to play it more safely. I need to use preservatives to keep all the bacteria and mold away and I don’t want to expose my friends or family to any possible danger.

Adding preservatives
So I started researching the most natural preservative that is available in the market that makes my products safe to use and is in line with my natural path. And there are some preservatives in the market that use certification ECO_CERT that fulfill my requirements. One of these is Leucidal which I started to use in several products and I am happy with the outcome. Using Leucidal in my formulations allows me to create products that one can keep for several months and they don’t even need to be refrigerated.
Leucidal is made from fermenting radishes with the lactic acid bacteria Leuconostoc Kimchii.
Approved by ECOCER Leucidal is water-soluble and works on a wider ph range (3-8). It gives your final products 2-3 months of protection.
Ingredients of hair conditioner
Aloe vera oil
conditioning natural hair requires natural ingredients thus I have used double action of aloe vera – aloe vera juice and aloe vera oil. You can alternate the aloe vera oil with other oils that have great benefits for hair such as coconut oil, argan oil or olive oil.
You can make your own aloe vera oil or purchase one online.
Aloe vera has a long history of uses mainly for its healing properties on the skin. Lately, it became very popular for its benefits for hair. Some claim it can strengthen your hair and make your scalp healthy. Is that actually true?

Aloe vera for scalp inflammation
In this study from 1998 researchers successfully used aloe vera to resolve scalp inflammation (seborrheic dermatitis)and dandruff. Aloe vera contains fatty acids that have anti-inflamatory properties that help to treat such conditions.
Cleansing ability of aloe vera
Aloe vera deep cleans the hair shaft without hurting the hair strands, unlike other chemicals in hair products, leaving your hair healthier, softer and shinier.
Aloe vera for hair growth
When you apply aloe vera to your scalp you might see that hair breakage and loss slows down. There are plenty of people claiming that aloe vera oil causes their hair to grow faster however more clinical evidence is needed to prove this claim.
This hair growth oil restores nutrients and strengthens the roots thus ultimately increasing hair production and thickness.

Strengthen hair strands
Aloe vera contains many valuable vitamins and minerals that contribute to cell turnover. Vitamin B12 and folic acid keep the hair from falling out. Aloe vera has moisturizing and nourishing properties that contribute to better hair texture which ends don’t split or break.
Glycerin for the DIY deep conditioner
Derived from plant oils, it is a common ingredient in many skin and hair care products and acts as a humectant thus pulling in moisture from the air and keeping your hair healthy and hydrated.
It is beneficial for all hair types including frizzy, curly, or damaged hair as it can stop breakage.
