This homemade lavender latte combines espresso with floral lavender syrup and your favorite milk. Sprinkled with lavender sugar, this lavender latte recipe is perfect for sipping hot or iced.

Last time I shared with you my favorite bedtime drink Lavender Milk Tea.

This time, we’re adding a caffeine kick to the calming floral notes with this creamy, aromatic, homemade lavender latte.

Whether you prefer it sweetened with honey, poured over ice, or made into a cozy morning ritual, this recipe brings a soothing twist to your usual espresso or classic latte.

Let’s dive into how to make it, even without an espresso machine.

Lavender Latte Ingredients

What is Lavender Latte

A lavender latte is any beverage made with coffee, lavender syrup, and milk. While the coffee can be espresso, strong brewed Americano, or even a caffeine-free chicory alternative, the lavender syrup, on the other hand, is essential for its signature floral flavor. The milk is flexible; you can use dairy or non-dairy options like almond, coconut, or oat milk, and even milk powder works in a pinch.

Lavender Latte Ingredients

Lavender simple syrup

I like to use my homemade lavender syrup, which I made with stevia and is easy to make with just three ingredients. If you decide to make your own, you need to gather lavender buds of organic quality that haven’t been treated with chemicals.

Whether you grow your lavender or buy organic lavender online, the choice is yours.

My favorite lavender for making homemade simple syrup is Lavandula angustifolia (English lavender), which has the sweetest aroma and flavor among all the lavender species.

To make the lavender simple syrup with sugar at home, combine sugar and water with dried lavender flowers in a saucepan.
Heat gently until the sugar dissolves, then simmer for a few minutes.
Strain out the lavender flowers with fine mesh or coffee filter, and your homemade lavender syrup is ready to use.

Iced lavender latte

Milk

This recipe works well with either steamed milk or milk foam.

To achieve the perfect frothy foam, warm the milk to 150 F (65 C) so it stays hot and smooth without a burnt taste. If you are using this milk frother, it will warm it up for you. You can also use this hand mixer frother  or a french press, but you will need to use a thermometer.

For the type of milk, whole milk is a great choice. If you prefer plant-based alternatives, try almond (for a lavender almond milk), cashew, or coconut milk.

Coffee

To make the lavender coffee bold and flavorful, we need strong coffee with concentrated flavor. Thus, the espresso seems the best choice and is a traditional base for lavender latte.

However, if you don’t have an espresso machine, you can use Americano or strong-brewed coffee instead (like French press or pour-over). It works well, make sure it’s strong enough to balance the milk and lavender syrup.

Ice (optional)

Of course, only if you plan to make an iced lavender latte!

Iced lavender latte
