This homemade aloe vera mask is made of natural ingredients, one can easily find it in the pantry. And yet, this aloe vera honey mask will make your skin healthy and radiant in no time.
Women have always wanted to look beautiful and have been taking care of their skin since ancient times. In old India, about 5,000 years ago, women made face and body masks called Ubutan. Their ingredients changed from season to season, but the basics were always fresh herbs, plants such as aloe vera, and roots such as turmeric.

Similar to India, the ancient Egyptians made masks of clay, which was quickly divided into milk and honey, and the more suspicious crocodile dung. Cleopatra soaked her body and face in exfoliating donkey’s milk baths and applied a mask made of mud from the Dead Sea twice weekly to keep her skin healthy and radiant.
Making a homemade aloe vera facial mask is the easiest one can do to restore and replenish your skin in no time.
Moreover, all you need are just ingredients from your own pantry, just a bit of search, and aloe vera honey mask is ready.
Ingredients to make a homemade aloe vera mask
aloe vera for glowing skin
Aloe vera is the most popular herb of choice for topical skin conditions. Specifically, the gel inside the leaves of aloe vera is healing and soothing and can help with a variety of minor ailments.
Aloe vera gel contains moisturizing and soothing properties that boost collagen and helps fight bacteria. When you add it to a homemade aloe vera mask or cream, it heals mild burns and sunburns (1) I always keep this simple healing burn gel in the freezer.
Known for its moisturizing properties; Aloe vera heals scars and marks (2) When added to facial masks, aloe vera can ease eczema, psoriasis, or acne mainly due to its anti-inflammatory properties (3)
If you are not sure how to identify aloe vera, here is a comprehensive list of plants that took like aloe vera.
Aloe vera acts as an antiseptic agent that eases pain, swelling, and itching, and is successful with mosquito bites. I also use aloe vera to make homemade mouthwash or soap bars.
Raw honey face mask benefits
Raw honey is packed with components beneficial for your skin. It helps balance the bacteria on the skin which helps with acne.
Raw Honey speeds up the healing processes of the skin and is very beneficial for eczema or blemishes.
Raw honey also acts as a natural exfoliator that takes off dry, dull skin and reveals new skin cells underneath.

Ground Cinnamon
Sweet and spicy cinnamon used to be a rare and very valuable spice in ancient times. While nowadays you can find cinnamon in most pantries few people use it in their beauty skincare.
Cinnamon possesses anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that help fight free radicals and improve the elasticity of the skin (4)
In this study, researchers showed that cinnamon extract supports collagen production thus reducing wrinkles and skin sagging (5)
How to make aloe vera honey mask
First step
Cut one aloe vera leaf from your plant and wash it thoroughly. Leave it upside down for 10 minutes allowing the yellow latex to drop off.
Use a sharp knife or scissors to remove the thorny parts on both sides. With the same knife, remove one side of the outer leaf and scrape the inside gel.
If you are using a store-bought aloe vera gel you can skip this step

Second step
Use a blender or food processor to mash aloe vera gel into a gelly mixture.

Third step
Transfer two tablespoons of gelly mixture into a bowl and mix it with two tablespoons of raw honey properly till the mixture is homogenous.

Fourth step
Add 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon or 20 drops of cinnamon extract into a mixture and mix it well.

Fifth step
Add a few drops of tea tree oil (for acne) or other essential oil to get additional benefits (optional).
How to use homemade aloe vera facial mask
- Use the back of the spoon or your fingers to gently apply the mask in a thin coat all over your face and neck. You can go even further to the chest area. Just keep your eyes, eyebrows, and nostrils out.
- Lay back and relax for 10- 15 minutes allowing the mask to nourish your skin
- Rinse it off thoroughly with warm water and you will notice an instant glow on your skin.
- Apply facial cream afterward

How to customize a homemade aloe face mask
As I promised at the beginning to make this aloe vera gel face mask we will use only natural ingredients in your pantry.
Each ingredient in this homemade aloe face mask can be perfectly used on its own. Just pure aloe vera gel is healing and soothing so just applying aloe vera gel on burns or sunburns makes wonders.
Even raw honey works on its own. After washing your face with water, apply raw honey to your skin and leave it for a few minutes before rinsing off. It will help you to remove dead skin cells that make your skin look dull and reveal brighter skin.
Similarly, you can add other ingredients to this aloe vera honey mask to adjust it to your skin type.
aloe vera gel mask for dry skin
If your skin is dry add one tablespoon of coconut oil into your aloe vera gel face mask to moisturize it
for oily skin
If your skin is rather oily and acne-prone, squeeze a few drops of lemon juice (4) into a mixture. It will refresh your skin while it cleans your pores and kills some of the bacteria that might be causing your acne. This homemade facial mask is specifically made for acne-prone skin.
aloe vera gel for hyperpigmentation
Hyperpigmentation can be brightened by adding turmeric to your aloe vera honey mask as it can help with discoloration and dark spots.
If you don’t have aloe vera plant at home, use over-the-counter aloe vera gel derived from aloe vera plant. Just look for a gel that lists aloe vera as its main ingredient.
Raw honey is not processed and retains most of the nutrients and antioxidants that our skin can benefit from. Regular honey on the other hand lost most of its nutrients like pollen with the processing.
Even though raw honey is more expensive than other kinds of honey, it’s relatively inexpensive compared to other skin cosmetics for your face.
This recipe is for one use so the best practice is to use it right away. If you still have some left, transfer it to the airtight container and keep it refrigerated for up to 1 week.
