Apple, Beetroot, and Carrot juice, known as ABC juice, is a vibrant, tasty, and detoxifying blend often referred to as a miracle drink for its remarkable health benefits.

The Apple Beetroot Carrot juice, or ABC juice recipe, is a great vegan option to ensure you get the vital vitamins and minerals your body needs for detox and digestion, even when specific herbs might not be in season.

By herbs, I mean nettle and dandelion leaves that I combined in this green smoothie or soup to cleanse the body from accumulated toxins and boost your energy levels. However, they are best collected in early spring to achieve the cleansing result.

The apples, beetroots, and carrots are available all year and offer a low-glycemic symphony of flavors and benefits. Although apple beetroot carrot juice is very popular, beets can be tricky to sneak into a food.

While apples bring a natural sweetness and are a source of vitamin C, beetroot and carrots assist in detoxification. Additionally, beetroots are a good source of nitrates, which help lower blood pressure and improve athletic performance.

Carrots, on the other hand, contain fiber that aids support gut and digestive health and beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A, supporting good vision.

The vitamins and antioxidants in ABC juice, such as vitamin A from carrots and vitamin C from apples, improve immune function and promote skin health by supporting collagen production, while natural sugars provide a quick energy source.

You only need three main ingredients, preferably organic, for the best results

A – Stands for Apple

While I enjoy drinking apple juice on its own, I prefer this ABC juice, especially when the apples are a bit too sour.

Tart green apple varieties like Granny Smith or Braeburn work particularly well, as the sweetness of carrots and the earthy flavor of beetroot help balance their sharpness. If you prefer a naturally sweet flavor, opt for apple varieties like Fuji or Honeycrisp.

B – Beetroot

Use fresh raw beetroot of red color for a vibrant red hue. Fresh beet juice ensures that all nutrients are preserved. No need to peel.

C – Carrot

Look for juicy carrots with a deep orange color, indicating a higher beta-carotene content. Both baby carrots and regular-sized carrots are suitable for this recipe; no need to peel.

If you have an abundance, this raw carrot salad or carrot orange soup are my favorite.

Second step: Juice or blend them

Apple beetroot carrot juice recipe with a juicer or blender.

You don’t have a juicer? No worries, this recipe can be made without a juicer, with a blender instead.

 If using a blender, add a small amount of water to help with blending. 

First step: Preparing the ingredients

Wash all the ingredients thoroughly. Core the apples and cut them into smaller pieces that will fit into your juicer or blender. Chop off the head and tail of the beetroot and carrots, and cut them into smaller chunksIf using ginger, peel a small piece and slice it.

Second step: Juice or blend them

With Juicer:

Start by juicing the apples, followed by the beetroot, carrots, and ginger (if using), in that order. Collect the juice and stir in a container or glass before serving.

Using a blender: 

Add a half cup of water to help with blending. Start with a small amount and add more as needed.

Blend on high until the ingredients are well combined, and the mixture is smooth. If the mixture is too thick, add more water and blend again until you reach your desired consistency.

Third step: Strain the mixture

Skip this step if you are using a juicer.

Once blended, use a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth to strain the juice into a container, discarding the pulp. 

Or, if you want some fiber, add a little pulp to the juice.

PS: You can use the leftover pulp in recipes like muffins and soups or compost it for your garden.

Fourth step: Serve immediately

Stir the juice well before serving.

You can serve the juice immediately over ice or refrigerate it briefly for a few minutes before enjoying it. You can add a refreshing touch by squeezing some lime or lemon juice. This fresh juice is best consumed within 2 hours of making.

Variations to ABC juice recipe

Ginger and lemon are my favorite ingredients to add to this recipe. However, you can try other combinations:

  • like orange, or lime juice. You need to peel them before blending them into juice. 
  • Boost the nutrient content by adding leafy greens like spinach or kale.
  • Add a handful of fresh mint leaves for a refreshing and aromatic twist. 
  •  make this juice with a pinch of warming spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, or a dash of cayenne pepper.
  • Apple, Beetroot, and Carrot, along with 1/2 inch ginger and 1/2 inch turmeric root make an extra nutritional beverage.

When to serve the ABC juice?

This ABC juice is made with fresh ingredients and can be consumed daily.

You can start your day with one cup of ABC juice in the morning or have a glass in the afternoon, when energy levels might dip. 

While drinking juice on an empty stomach may aid the detoxification process, having a small glass of ABC juice before a meal might help stimulate your appetite and support your digestive system.

How to store the juice?

ABC juice is best consumed fresh; however, you can store this juice in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24-48 hours.

Instructions

  1. Wash all the ingredients thoroughly. Core the apples and cut them into smaller pieces that will fit into your juicer or blender. Cut the carrots and beetroot into smaller chunks.
