These lemon & coconut bath bombs will tone, regenerate and rejuvenate your skin. Made of all-natural ingredients they detox your body and leave your skin smooth and silky.

I love lemons and use them a lot in the kitchen for cooking and cleaning. I like their colour, odour and also their medicinal benefits. But have you ever used them in your bath?

Why use lemons in the bathwater?

  • To lighten your skin and fade age spots – high contents of Vitamin C as well as citric acid act as a bleaching agent and help lighten its colour, clearing any spot and leaving skin smooth and soft.
  • In case your skin is very oily, a lemon bath will help absorb the oil and kill the bacterias that are responsible for the high secretion of oil from glands.
  • Citric acid kills the bacteria that lead to acne or other skin inflammation.
  • Fresh scent – lemon has a very fresh scent that can easily be transferred to your skin. Adding a few drops of lemon into your bath will rejuvenate your body.
  • Kills bad smell – a magical killer of bad smell, lemon can help people whose bodies produce a bad odour. Moreover, lemon possesses antiseptic properties and act as a fresh deodorant.
  • Helps achieve a young look – lemon, known for its exfoliating skills helps the skin get rid of dead skin cells and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

It is important to note that depending on your skin type this exfoliation process can actually damage skin and even age skin prematurely if done frequently. In general, once a week is the optimal frequency.

So splashing some lemon into your bath is a great idea that will tone, regenerate and rejuvenate your skin.

Here is an elegant way to do so.

You can double the effect with these natural lemon coconut bath bombs that enrich your skin with other unique ingredients such as Epsom salt, coconut oil and baking soda.

Ingredients to make homemade bath-bombs

Baking soda (Sodium bicarbonate)

has many uses, most of us use it in baking or cleaning to remove bacteria or odours. But when added to a bath baking soda relieves irritation, infections and helps detox the body.  According to Medical News today baking soda can helo with Yeast infections, eczema or Fungal skin and nail infections, psoriasis or poison ivy.

Baking soda is also a great ingredient for making shower bombs, just in case you prefer a shower.

will help relax and relieve tension and muscle soreness. It leaves the skin soft and smooth and supple with magnesium.

Cornstarch

can relieve skin irritations including skin allergies and sunburns.

Coconut oil

My favourite moisturizer hydrates your skin and leaves it smooth and silky. I use coconut in many salves, creams and lip balms for its excellent benefits for the skin.

Moreover, most of the natural ingredients we used are easily available and you can get them for a fraction of the price. I really enjoy the process of making these bath bombs. It is fun and easy. Take a look.

First step :

Start with measuring all dried ingredients in a large bowl. Mix it well. Add lemon zest to the mixture. This is also the right time to add any natural colourants in the powder form such as beetroot powder. If you have colorant in the liquid form use it in the second step.

Second step:

Now mix all wet ingredients. Melt the coconut oil in a double boiler and mix it with lemongrass essential oil. Feel free to select other essential oils if you prefer as per their benefits for the skin or scent. I used lemongrass essential to add additional antibacterial and antifungal benefits as well as an antioxidant. If you wish to make bath bombs with a relaxing and calming effect, use lavender oil. Or pamper yourself in the bath bombs rose essential oil with rose petals to moisturize your body

Third step:

Now it is time to mix the wet and dry ingredients together. This you want to do really slowly as the citric acid makes a fizz when added to water and you want to minimize that.

Fourth step:

Mix it well and make a test if the mixture is well balanced and capable of making balls. Grab a handful and squeeze it to make a clump. When it holds together it should be moist enough to mold. If not add more coconut oil. If it is too dry add more wet ingredients.

How long do homemade bath-bombs last?

Use your DIY Bath-bomb within about 6 months and keep them in the moisture-free glass jar.

Next day prepare your bath:

Fill the bathtub with hot water, add lemon juice from 1 lemon

Prepare a glass with lemonade to infuse your body with lemon from inside out. It is important to keep your body hydrated as you will go through the cleaning process when your body will get rid of the toxins

Now it is time for your bath-bomb to come to effect. Add it to the warm water and enjoy.

If you feel that you are sweating it is perfectly fine.

Immerse your body in the lemon bath water for a minimum of 20 minutes to allow your body to absorb the Epson salt, baking soda, lemon, lemongrass essential oil and citric acid.

Close your eyes and just relax while listening nice calming music

The best time for this bath is just before you go to sleep.
